The ONE Thing That You Need For Healthy Hair

Did you know that everything done to your hair could cause it distress? Damage or distressed (I like to call it) hair is a result of thermal, chemical or even environmental. Thermal distress comes from too much heat at temperatures that are too high for the hair strand. Chemical distress are the results of and not limited to overprocessed relaxers, color and keratin, even chlorine from pools. I’ll bet you didn’t know that one. Environmental stress factors could be that of sun exposure, sea salt from the ocean, cold temperatures and wind. With today’s technology you could repair tresses so rapidly. Drumroll please...

What is Olaplex?

Taking center stage is Olaplex. Olaplex is said to be “insurance for your hair”. Olaplex links and repairs broken disulfide bonds in the hair. It is done before, during and after a chemical service. Disulfide bonds in our natural hair stabilize protein and are necessary to keep hair pliable and healthy. Taken straight from the website “Olaplex is a bond multiplier containing a single active ingredient, Bis-Aminopropyl Diglycol Dimaleate. Olaplex works by finding single sulfur hydrogen bonds and cross linking them back together to form disulfide bonds before, during and after services. Disulfide bonds are broken via chemical, thermal, and mechanical processes”. Environmental factors, some of which are stated above, along with hot tools, relaxers, coloring, bleaching, excessive brushing and touching, you name it, it all can all lead to damaged bonds and ultimately breakage. This is where Olaplex becomes a necessity because it is able to create a synthetic disulfide bond. This bond created in the hair repairs the weak links in the protein strands and allows the hair to be healthier and stronger. Best part is that you see and feel results after just one treatment.

How does it work?

Olaplex is a three step salon treatment. Step one is added to your color or as a stand alone treatment, which does wonders for the internal structure of distressed hair. I have had so much success with my clients doing this treatment. So much so that a client who is extremely satisfied with the progress of her hair that she has referred at least four new clients to me this year, it is only October. Id say that she is a happy client. Step two being the Bond Perfector, gosh I think about Pierce Brosnan as James Bond whenever I think of Bond Perfector. Anyway Step three, you get to take home with you to maintain your hair. Is step three necessary? I strongly advise clients to purchase it but it comes as a gift when you do a Salon treatment. It is like the cherry on top because the steps done in the salon rebuild and add protein but step three done on a weekly basis at home will maintain everything done in the salon to keep hair soft, pliable and manageable.

Salon professionals, like myself, are loving this miracle in a jar as it helps to restore compromised hair. Olaplex is NOT a conditioner. Again, It works from the inside out building and repairing broken bonds back together, permanently. This is not a quick temporary fix. The results of Olaplex are forever, as long as you continue to use best practices for your hair. Even if you decide not to use best practices, because old habits die hard Olaplex could be a life well, hair saver.

Who is Olaplex for?

That is an easy answer. EVERYONE! I use it on myself and my daughter, who has nothing on her hair, we barely use a blowdryer but I want her hair to look, feel and be healthy. Olaplex is here to stay so why wouldn’t you want this in your life, well in your hair.Be sure to talk to your stylist about it and get you an Olaplex treatment. You will not regret it and your hair will thank you for it.
